Australian Heritage Festival - Changing Lifestyles

We welcome you to Carisbrook Historic House! Step inside a household of the 1880s to see how lifestyles have changed. Explore how people lived then and compare their architecture, furnishings, and way of life to today with an in-depth audio tour.

Was daily life more sustainable in the 1880s? How have architecture, electricity, and the economy changed the lives of middle-class residents? Carisbrook Historic House provides an opportunity for the whole family to explore and ponder these questions.

A special exhibition in the Museum Room currently features the life of local artist H. Leonard Greening, a friend of the Northwood Group of artists. The display includes paintings, photographs, sketchbooks, diaries, and memorabilia. This exhibition was inspired by the 2023 Lane Cove History Prize-winning essay written by his granddaughter.

Devonshire Teas are available in the courtyard, featuring fresh homemade scones or a selection of delicious cakes and coffee. We are also offering a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate the Australian Heritage Festival.

No bookings are necessary, and free parking is available via Waterview Drive.
