Free History Writing Workshop

Aspiring history writers are invited to participate in a free History Writing Workshop presented by Dr Sarah Luke. This workshop, organised by the Lane Cove Historical Society and with the generous support of Dr Luke, is free and open to all – but you must register.

It is also specially timed for anyone planning to submit an entry for the LCHS Lane Cove History Prize.

Dr Sarah Luke is a writer and historian.

In 2020 Arcadia published her history of the Nautical School Ships Vernon and Sobraon, “Like a Wicked Noah’s Ark”. Her first children’s book, “Marion and the Forty Thieves”, published in 2024,  is set on the Nautical School Ship Sobraon in the 1890s. It has just been longlisted for the 2025 Book Links Award for Children’s Historical Fiction.

Her most popular book is a history of the old Callan Park lunatic asylum in Lilyfield, “Callan Park, Hospital for the Insane", which was published in 2018 and shortlisted for the 2019 Premier’s History Awards.

We are very excited and privileged to have Dr Luke lead the workshop.  You can read more about her at www.sarah-luke.com.

The History Writing Workshop will be held in The Cove Room at Lane Cove Council on Tuesday 17 June, from 4.30-6.30pm.

Register for the History Writing Workshop at bit.ly/4jiwthd or via the QR Code.
